What are dental implants?
Dental implants are small screws made of biocompatible material that replace the root of a missing tooth. After being placed in the jawbone, they integrate with it and form a stable foundation for a crown, bridge or denture. The restoration looks and functions like a natural tooth.
Modern implantology makes it possible to rebuild the loss of a single tooth, several teeth, and even complete dental arches — including total toothlessness. It is a durable, comfortable and aesthetic solution that prevents bone loss and overloading of adjacent teeth.
When is it worth considering implants?
Implants are recommended for the loss of one or more teeth when you want to avoid grinding adjacent teeth (as with traditional bridges), and for total toothlessness, where they support a fixed or removable denture. In almost every clinical situation implants can be used — even many years after tooth loss.
The decision on the possibility of treatment is made by the doctor based on 3D diagnostics, assessment of bone volume and the patient's health. When there is too little bone, a sinus lift or guided bone regeneration is performed.
Types of implants: titanium and ceramic
The standard in implantology is titanium implants — proven, durable and clinically well-researched. However, Stomatologia Mierzyn also uses ceramic implants (zirconium oxide), available in only a few clinics in Poland.
Ceramic implants are naturally white, making them particularly suitable for the aesthetic zone, where titanium could show through thin gums. They are hypoallergenic — recommended for patients with metal allergy — and have less bacterial biofilm build-up.
What does implant treatment look like?
Treatment begins with a consultation and diagnostics: examination, 3D imaging, an intraoral scan and a digital smile design. The doctor then presents an individual treatment plan with a cost estimate.
The implant placement itself is performed under local anaesthesia and is painless. After the procedure, a healing period follows (usually a few months) during which the implant integrates with the bone. After this time, the implant is exposed and a healing abutment is placed, and then the final crown or denture is made.
Why Stomatologia Mierzyn?
The Stomatologia Mierzyn Centre of Dentistry and Implantology is a place where implantology is the treatment of choice. Dr Jarosław Matuszak, ICOI implantology expert (Diplomate), has placed over 10,000 implants and has been running training courses for doctors for years.
We use digital treatment planning, precise 3D diagnostics and proven implant systems, which translates into predictable and lasting results. We invite you to an implantology consultation — we will assess your case and propose the best solution.
